Spring/Summer Program Registration Now Open
Hey Rowers!
I hope you’re all ready for the spring/summer season!! Registration is OPEN for ALL programming! Programs begin TODAY and the deadline to register is April 30th!
How To Register:
Registration IS OPEN on RegattaCentral. Please be sure to register for and pay your 2026 Membership if you have not done so already and pay any outstanding fees that may be on your account.
Go to the “Clubs” Tab -> Click on “Wilmington Rowing Center (WRC)” -> Programs and Classes Tab -> “Racing Team” OR “Coached Rowing”
Onie (WRC Membership Chair) and Michelle (WRC Treasurer) have been keeping a close eye on signups, so be sure you are in good standing with the organization- if you are not, I will boot you off the TeamSnap so you can’t sign up for practices.
Fees:
The fee for this season is $300 for each program, which includes the cost of coaching and cox gifts. For racers, regatta participation comes with additional fees for race registration costs and trailering.
Coached Rowing – NEW PROGRAM
Based on coaching survey results, we are creating a new offering this season – a Coached Rowing program that will focus on technique & endurance, but not racing. The program will include sweep & sculling. The program will be 3x a week, similar to the racing team schedule, but separate. Kate Mendoza will be Head Coach of our Coached Rowing Program. There will be a seasonal fee for this program and will likely be Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, but not finalized yet.
Racing Team
The Racing Team will have new requirements and higher accountability for folks joining. (We will erg test, and participation in regattas will be required. If you are not meeting requirements, you will be asked to switch to the coached rowing program.) Holly Dodge will be the Head Coach of our Racing Team and we also have assistant coaches who will be able to help out throughout the season for both racing team and coached rowing programs – We are hoping to keep the coach to rower ratio 1:16 or less. Schedule will likely remain as it has in the past consisting of Monday & Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Out of My Skull: Mayhem & Misadventures on Delaware’s Christina River
Thinking about giving rowing a shot as your newest favorite sport? Considering joining the Wilmington Rowing Center? ‘Out of My Skull, Mayhem and Misadventures on
the Christina River in Delaware’ is just what you need to answer your questions about rowing in general and rowing with this club on this river. Published in 2024, it’s the story of a 50-year-old woman looking for the perfect sport and community who landed on the sliding seat of a shell and never left. Her experiences give you a taste for the trials of rowing on the Christina River in Delaware and the camaraderie inherent in the Wilmington Rowing Center.
It can be purchased at Huxley and Hiro bookstore located at 419 N Market St, Wilmington, or from Amazon.com in paperback or eBook format. An audio version is currently in development and will be available on Audible soon.
